Mike
McCabe spent his entire 18-year Wall Street career at
Prudential Securities, where he was co-director of NASDAQ Trading.
In May 2001, Mike decided that it was time to get closer to his
family and friends. Taking the summer off to spend time with his
wife Lynn and their three children. Cassidly, Regan and Liam,
they traveled abroad for several weeks. There was never a better
time in Mike's life.
At summer's end, Mike had agreed to join Tuck at Cantor Fitzgerald's
new office in Shrewsbury, NJ as a Senior NASDAQ Trader and to
assist in managing the office. The excitement he had knowing that
his travel time to and from work was being reduced drastically
made him a happy man.
Mike's entire life was spent at or around beaches. Nowhere was
he happier. His view was that you never had a bad day at the beach.
It was relaxing, peaceful and fun, very much like Michael.
While Mike's time here was cut short, he felt all who knew him
a legacy of love, compassion and humour. |
Mike
Tucker had a lust for life.
It began with his family, he adored his wife Marybeth and his
girls Taylor, Gaffney, Morgan and Andy. His home still seems to
echo with the girls' excited giggles as he chased them in countless
games of "Shark". It extended to the people he helped
through charities, volunteer programs and scholarships.
That lust for life was captured in the joy he brought to his many
friends. Who can forget the priceless image of "Tuck"
radiating a crooked grin on a perfect September day in the well
of a fishing boat surrounded by close buddies. He was in heaven.
He called Monmouth Country home for all his life. The friendships
that began in high school at Christian Brothers Academy and in
college at Syracuse University endured and developed into deep
bonds.
His lust for life was evident even in his work. Mike was often
among the first to arrive in the morning at the trading desk of
Cantor Fitzgerald. He capped the work day surrounded by friends
on the ferry ride home, bending elbows and spinning tall tales.
At age 40, Tuck left us too soon. But we take comfort in knowing
that he'd want us all to embrace life, squeeze the most from it,
and always smile when you think of him. |
